What I {Felt Like Sharing} Today

Oh my.

It's been far too long.

I can't think of anything clever enough to write about, so I'll just visually stimulate you...

Click on the photo for possibly more info.  Maybe even more pictures.  You'll just have to see.

My trip to Germany was Ah-mazing.  I can't wait to go again! Maybe with warmer weather though...

Spending a week with Vivan reminded me how GIGANTIC Mia has gotten.  It blows my mind.  She's not a baby anymore!

In case you live under a rock, you might not be aware that the country has been hit with a "snow bomb" aka "snowpocalypse" or "snowmageddon"

Atlanta just got a ton of ice.  We've been trapped for 4 days.  We got bored.  And then highly entertained! Enjoy...

What I {Am Not So Keen On} Today

1. I had to pick a booger out of a nose that wasn't mine.

2. PBS is asking for donations.  Yes, I would love for people to donate but there is no need to interrupt the show every 10 minutes! Mia gets antsy which makes me antsy.  Not ok.

3. Winter is really here.  So is the static.  I hate static.

4. It's also cold and I'm thinking about complaining about it. Thank goodness for this stuff!  But then again, its not as cold as THIS is going to be.

5. I haven't started packing, but my carry-on is already full.  None of it is my stuff.  But then again, a lot of it is for this...

awwww

6.  I haven't worn earrings in a while and now I am and I have that itchy feeling.  Don't you hate that?

7. I have pretty much stopped working on racheldid.  It was easy to do when all I did was change and feed a sleeping baby, but Mia is a lot more annoying now... I mean active!  That and school and work, I just don't have the time to crochet anymore.  Sad face.  This doesn't mean I'll never get back into it.  Just taking a hiatus for now.  {If you ever really want/need me to make something don't hesitate to email me. I'll see if I can pencil you in :) }

8.  I have pretty much plateaued on my diet.  I can only blame myself though cause I never started that 30-Day Shred commitment...

9.  I'm tired of complaining

Ok I'm done!

Did you hear? It's the most wonderful time of the year!

I really REALLY want to bake some cookies.

I really REALLY want a christmas tree to make ornaments for.

Ok I think I have a number 10...Oh to be a jew that loves Christmas...

I think I'll go watch Love Actually and pretend my South Beach meal bar is actually a sugar cookie.

What I {Want To Melt} Today

I'm afraid my life has been pretty uneventful lately.  Nothing great but nothing bad either, so I guess that's a good thing.  Right?

Still holding strong with the South Beach diet

Weight loss total = 8lbs

It's slowed down a lot since my initial start which is a little frustrating but hopefully it will pick up again soon.

I know that diet alone won't do anything so I'm going to commit myself to doing the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred at least 3 days a week.

Sigh, I did it once and thought I was going to pass out. But hopefully that will make some more of this weight "melt" away (hahaha you like how I tied that one in?). There are some pretty amazing before and after photos out there so I'm hopeful.

I also want to melt your heart with some pictures of my future pet.

HOLY GUACAMOLE HOW CUTE ARE THESE THINGS!?

I need one.  It's decided.

Since I'm on my new diet I have been far more sensitive to anything food related.  It's probably a bad idea to have so many food blogs on my google reader. But I saw this post recently and I'm trying to figure out how to fit it into my new lifestyle.

But I'm pretty sure that's not possible.

Well cheese is allowed...

And If I used whole wheat bread...

No Rachel, stop.

There is no way that a giant vat of melted cheese is ok.

But one can dream!

What I {Found To Eat} Today

Sigh...

I'm on a new diet.

It's rough.

But I know I should do it.

We're doing South Beach.  Have you ever tried it?

Phase one is HARSH.

No carbs = No fun

Luckily this only lasts two weeks and then we move into phase two where we can reintroduce brown rice and whole grains oh and carrots I have never craved a carrot more than when I'm told I can't have one.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR PHASE TWO!

I kind of hate breakfast and all foods associated with breakfast.  With my new lifestyle I have been forced to try to eat things like eggs (blagh) and turkey bacon (blaaaghghgh).  I'm more of a bagel, muffin, cereal kinda gal so I've been VERY HUNGRY.

I tried scrambled eggs and basically just swallowed them. Gross.

I tried a fried egg and the dogs got most of that. Yuck.

I've just been giving up and eating my 18 allotted nuts. Soooo filling.

So today I tried a poached egg. I had it with some sliced avocado and a "Mock Hollandaise" sauce.

Verdict: I ate it.  So I guess that's a step in the right direction.

After looking up several recipes for the sauce I decided to make up one of my own since we don't have egg substitute around here.

Here is my very accurate and scientific recipe:

Rachel's Tolerable Mock Hollandaise Sauce

  • 1 large spoonful of mayonnaise
  • 1 large spoonful of sour cream
  • 2 globs of dijon mustard
  • The juice of one lemon slice
  • Cayenne pepper to taste
  1. Combine all ingredients in a micro safe bowl.
  2. "Nuke" it for about 30 seconds
  3. Stir and serve over whatever you can swallow for breakfast
  4. Thank me later

Does your mom say stuff like "I'll just nuke it in the microwave for a bit"?

Cause mine does.  Makes me chuckle every time.

That, and when she says, "it's just balmy today" hahaha oh man that one kills me!

So I'm really looking forward to the end of phase one but I guess the good news is that I've lost 4 pounds.  Wooooot.

ANYWAYS, enough complaining.

Let me tell you about Halloween!

Remember how I mentioned making Mia's costume?  Well here it is in all its glory.

She was a little Hershey Kiss!

A very chocolaty Hershey Kiss

 CUTENESS

She won the neighborhood costume contest btw.

Well, she won for her age bracket...

There was only one other kid...

But she still won!

I went to a Halloween party.

No one had any idea who I was.

Apparently no one watches TV anymore.

But for those in the know, I think we can all agree I was pretty accurate!

You may be asking yourself, who's this guy?

He was a Snuggie! Get it?  He wasn't wearing a Snuggie, he was the Snuggie.  It was his idea and as a team we made it actually happen. Really last minute.  As in right before we left for the party.  But that's when you get your best ideas.

Oh, you what to actually know WHO he is?

He's the guy that made me go on the terrifying rides at the fair.  And got me lost in a corn maze. And made me go to Carrolton, GA. I guess we can call him my beau.

Dahlonega was a huge FAIL this year. I don't even have any pictures to show you.  There were a ton more people and the vibe just wasn't the same. We ended up cutting our trip short.  Sad face...

So that's what been up lately.  How was your Halloween?

Oh and one more thing I've been thinking about...  Why the hell are we starting a diet just before Thanksgiving!?!?

Ok I promise I'm done complaining.  For now.

Post Script: As a special treat I have some new Vivian pics to share! Yaaaaaay

Vivi and her German grandparents

Aww look at G'ma and Vivi!

My mom is the first Hwitty that got to go over and meet the baby in person.  I can't wait until it's my turn!

Balding babies are so funny looking!
